PDB HORIZONTAL LIFTING CLAMP
Key Technical Features:
-
Heavy-Duty Safety Locking: Equipped with an automatic spring-loaded safety locking mechanism to prevent plate slippage before tension is applied.
-
Premium Precision Forged: Drop-forged from high-grade alloy steel, strictly conforming to EN13157 & ASME B30.20 rigging standards.
-
Optimized Hardness Limit: Engineered with a high-frequency quenched cam, ideal for structural steel plates with a surface hardness up to 37 HRC (345 HB).
Primary Applications & Lifting Scenarios:
-
Horizontal Transfer & Rigging: Specially designed for the safe, level transport of single steel plates, H-beams, and large fabricated steel structures.
-
Multi-Clamp Configurations: Must be utilized in pairs or multiples (e.g., 2 or 4 clamps) with a 2-legged chain sling or via a lifting beam (spreader beam) for elongated plates.
-
Industrial Sectors: Extensively used in shipyards, steel structure construction, heavy manufacturing, and metal fabrication workshops.
VOLSN PDB Horizontal Lifting Clamps are heavy-duty rigging tools designed for the safe, horizontal transfer of single steel plates and structures. Engineered from premium, precision-forged alloy steel and conforming to the EN13157 standard, they support a working load limit (WLL) from 1 to 16 Tonnes per pair with a jaw opening range of 0-150mm. For maximum safety, they must always be used in pairs or multiples with a lift angle ($\beta$) of 60 degrees.
-
Forging Process: Manufactured from high-grade alloy steel via precision drop forged processes, delivering superior yield strength compared to standard carbon steel alternatives.
-
Safety Lock Mechanism: Equipped with an automatic safety button/locking mechanism that prevents the clamp from slipping or releasing even when the load is temporarily pre-placed or in an open position before lifting tension is applied.
-
Cam Design: Features an optimized, high-frequency quenched cam that grips tighter automatically as the load weight increases.
-
Compliance & Traceability: Fully manufactured to meet EN13157 standards. Each pair is supplied with a Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and a unique serial number for third-party safety audits.

-
Minimum Load Limit: 10% of the rated WLL 。
-
Max Surface Hardness: Suitable for steel plates with a surface hardness up to 37 HRC / 345 HB
FAQ:
-
: How many PDB horizontal lifting clamps are required for a safe lift?
-
Answer: PDB series clamps must always be used in pairs or multiples (4 clamps) to ensure horizontal stability. Single clamp use is strictly prohibited. When using a 2-legged chain sling, the lifting angle (Beta) must be maintained at 60° to distribute the load correctly. For long or flexible plates, a lifting beam (spreader beam) is mandatory to prevent excessive bending.
-
-
: Can PDB clamps be used on saggy, thin, or high-hardness steel plates?
-
Answer: No. PDB horizontal clamps are designed for rigid steel plates. Saggy or deflected thin plates can cause the clamps to slip due to altered force angles. Additionally, the plate’s surface hardness must not exceed 37 HRC. For plates with contaminated surfaces (oil, grease, paint, or scale), they must be thoroughly cleaned before clamping to avoid a dangerous reduction in friction.
